Director of Research
Ronald J. Smolenski, Jr., CIMA® is Director of Research at Pitcairn. RJ coordinates and oversees manager due diligence across Pitcairn’s broad platform of investment vehicles. His area of analytical focus is long-equities. RJ plays an integral role in the operation and oversight of Pitcairn’s Due Diligence committee, which is responsible for manager research, selection and ongoing oversight. He supports Pitcairn’s Chief Investment Officer in directing the activities of the Investment Strategy committee, which is responsible for developing Pitcairn’s investment strategy with a focus on asset class selection and portfolio construction.
RJ works closely with Pitcairn’s relationship management teams, collaborating with them to provide clients ongoing explanations of their investment deliverables, from strategy formulation and manager selection to continued performance of managers and products within customized portfolios. In his previous role as Client Portfolio Manager, RJ was responsible for the analysis and construction of client portfolios.
Before joining the Pitcairn team in 2000, RJ was an Investment Accountant at PFPC Global Fund Services, where he was responsible for mutual fund accounting on various equity and fixed income strategies.
RJ has a BBA in Finance from James Madison University and is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association. He holds the designation of Certified Investment Management Analyst and has completed the Chartered Alternative Investment Association’s Fundamentals of Alternative Investments certificate program.
