Faces of Pitcairn

Chris Oekles

Technology Specialist
April 2019

When you arrive at Pitcairn in the morning, you’ll find Technology Specialist Chris Oekels already at work, taking care of any overnight outliers and making sure our network resources are running smoothly. As Pitcairn’s primary help desk administrator, Chris is always on hand to help colleagues with technology issues that arise throughout the day. He welcomes opportunities to streamline processes and enjoys projects that help him expand his skills and expertise.

Chris’ “can do” attitude is demonstrated through his dedication to friends and family and his passion for all things Philadelphia. Here’s a peek into what drives Chris’ enthusiasm:

Favorite Philadelphia sports team?

"The EAGLES of course – I’m always dressed in my gear and never miss a game! I’ve taken four road trips to support the team: Jacksonville, Baltimore, Minnesota, and San Diego. I even made sure, when I was on vacation celebrating my 40th birthday in Punta Cana, that I was able to find a spot to watch the game. One thing I can’t do on game day is watch with my dad; he’s a 'nega-delphian.'”

Favorite Philly food?

"Memphis style barbeque ribs – the messier the better. It’s not barbeque if there isn’t a roll of paper towels beside you on the table. I highly recommend Sweet Lucy’s in Philly."

Something most people don’t know about you?

"I’m proud to say that I’m a cancer survivor. I self-diagnosed myself in 2009 after feeling a lump in my neck that turned out to be a tumor in my salivary gland. I’ve been cancer free for nine years."
