Faces of Pitcairn

Taurean Nelson

MOST Administrator
October 2019

October is designated National Cyber Security Month. This is a great time to review your cyber security knowledge and ensure you have the resources you need to be safer and more secure online. In keeping with the theme, we are highlighting a key member of our Security Awareness Team, Middle Office Service Team (MOST) Administrator Taurean Nelson, who is also celebrating his 5-year anniversary at Pitcairn.

As a member of the Security Awareness Team, what is your role in keeping Pitcairn safe against cyber attacks?

My role as a member of the SAT is to ensure that all employees are properly educated on cybercrime and that they are well equipped to handle any threats they may encounter.  There is no firewall stronger than the human firewall, and it is my duty to ensure employees receive the education necessary to combat these obstacles.

This month we are also celebrating your five-year anniversary with Pitcairn. What is it about Pitcairn that has kept you engaged?

Pitcairn remains committed to continued growth and development. Over these past five years I have witnessed heaves of change occur throughout the company. As someone who has also been growing and learning, professionally and personally, it has been a privilege to be able to do so within a company that isn’t afraid of evolution.

What are the top 3 reasons for your continued employment?

  • Continuous learning and development
  • A team of supportive colleagues invested in the success of the company at large
  • Pitcairn’s culture of service both to our client’s and beyond

What is it about your colleagues that you most admire?

Across departments, I admire how my colleagues are always willing to lend a helping hand to get the job done. At Pitcairn, not only do we function as a “family office”, we cultivate a “family” environment. We are a well-oiled machine, and a machine only works when all parts are operational

On a personal note, what was your favorite place to travel in the recent past? Why was it your favorite? What was your favorite part of the travel?

By far, my favorite travel destination of recent past has been the Netherlands. If you have a chance, visit the Van Gogh Museum and take a stroll through one of the many gardens or canals. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live inside of a postcard, the Netherlands will give you that experience.
