#PitcairnGivesBack Weighs in to End Hunger on #GivingTuesday
Jenkintown, Pennsylvania (December 3, 2019) - #PitcairnGivesBack, our employee-led philanthropic initiative, once again supported the Philabundance Food Drive for #GivingTuesday 2019. Pitcairn has taken part in this international day of giving for the past seven years.
Employees from all of our offices collected canned goods and non-perishable food throughout the month of November and delivered the donations to Philabundance on #GivingTuesday. Thanks to the collaboration of #PitcairnGivesBack (and a little competition), we collected 984 pounds of food, almost doubling our weigh-in from last year.
Pitcairn announced its participation at its annual client forum in November 2013, where Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday was our keynote speaker. What he shared with our audience back then still holds true today:
“We hear a lot about things being broken here in America,” says Timms, “but there is something more to America than debt ceilings and fiscal cliffs. If we think about this country’s generosity, from where I am sitting, it doesn’t seem like anything is broken at all. There is an entire new generation of Americans who want philanthropy to work well. Now, if just once a year everyone in the world can say “whatever we disagree about, we’re all connected by giving, this is all worth it.”
